Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

My Implant Removal Journey

My Implant Removal Journey

When I was 23, I saved up all the money I needed—on my own—to get breast implants. I didn’t tell many people about it, but a lot of my college friends were also getting theirs done as well. I felt like it was time for me to take this step too, and transition from college athlete to what I saw as a more feminine body. At the time, it never occurred to me to think about what this mindset really meant or where it came from. However, I eventually regretted my decision to move forward with getting breast implants, even though they were something I genuinely wanted at the time.

Fast forward to the present day, 17 years later; and it was time to either swap out my implants, replace them with something else, or have them removed. Plus, I am finished having children, so I am feeling ready to transition my breasts into a new season of life again.

I had a lot of friends who, again, were working on replacing their implants as well by transferring fat into their breasts instead. However, I did a consultation with my plastic surgeon before I had Sophia, and I could already feel my intuition telling me that I needed to do something soon.

Even though I could feel that my higher self was speaking to me about my implants, I still went to 3 different consultations where I was told I needed a “mommy makeover.” This included a breast lift, tummy tuck, and a long recovery. However, my intuition finally clarified itself; and I woke up one morning with a clear thought: “Just take them out!”

So that’s exactly what I did! I called my surgeon that day and told them my decision, and booked my implant removal appointment.

Here are 5 surprising things that have happened to me since removing my implants:

  1. I can breathe. I had no idea I had such shallow breathing. I can finally inhale and exhale fully, and that makes me feel so much more alive!

  2. My chronic pain has nearly disappeared. For years I thought my joint pain and body pain was from being a college athlete and playing soccer for years. However, since removing my breast implants, I have experienced 80-90% less pain. It brings me to tears thinking that all the work I have been doing (from foam rolling my muscles, to sauna, to cold plunge, to getting massage therapy exercise everyday, to learning all about mobility) didn’t help because the most enormous triggers were sitting right inside my chest.

  3. My body has energy again! I was so fatigued and I kept on thinking that it was because I have a 10 month old. However, it was the energy my body was spending fighting these foreign objects. Fatigue is one of the main symptoms of Breast Implant Illness.

  4. My brain is back. My brain fog had gotten awful, and I thought it was lingering covid-19 effects as well as sleep deprivation from raising small children. I didn't even realize my implants were possibly making my brain foggy.

  5. There are so many great options to enhance breasts with your own body fat with or without a lift, and without plastic implants. My favorite is this non-invasive fat transfer to breasts from Elite Body Sculpture.

I wanted to share this part of my journey with you all, and I'm only one week post-op, so I'll do another follow up soon!
