Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

New Moon Ritual Basics

New Moon Ritual Basics

The new moon is the perfect time to plan out your goals! Everything has its own energy, and the moon is no exception. During the new moon, this energy enters a place of renewal; making it the best time to start manifesting the things you want to attract in your life. The best way to do this is through a new moon ritual. This will look different for each person, but below I’m gonna share with you some new moon ritual basics to get you started…

Set Up Your Space

To prepare your new moon ritual, you just need a few things:

- Pen and paper for writing down your goals and plans.

- A sage bundle or Palo Santo stick to help clear the air of negative energies. (Read my posts about Sage and Palo Santo to learn more about cleansing your space.) You can also diffuse some calming essential oils like sage, lavender, or chamomile if burning isn’t your thing.

- Comfy floor seating. Sitting as close to the ground as possible helps you to be grounded and able to gather and dispel energy as needed. You can even perform your new moon ritual outside if you’d like!

- Crystals to help magnify and amplify good energy. Rose quartz is a good choice, since it helps get rid of negative energy, and replaces it with forgiving, determined, and committed energy. Clear quartz is another great option. It has properties of healing and protection from negative energy, and will also help to amplify the positive intentions you are preparing to set out.

Meditate

After you have prepared a soothing and cleared space to have your new moon ritual in, it’s time to prepare your mind. You can use an app, guided meditation video, or even simply have some prayer time to achieve this. It’s completely up to you and what helps you feel the most at peace within your mind and soul.

NOTE: If you are still finding it difficult to focus and have a cleared mind, follow these first two steps up with some good, old fashioned journaling. Just take some time to write out whatever is on your mind. It could be things that are frustrating, worrying, or scaring you—whatever is on your mind that is contributing to any negative feelings that are holding on. Use your pen and paper to get it all out and let it go.

List Your Goals and Intentions

What are you looking to achieve and/or attract in your life in the future? Long term goals? Short term goals? Be completely honest with yourself during this time. You can list anything at all; like habits, material things, people, energy, opportunities, etc. that you want to bring into your life. The important thing here is to go into making your list with a set intention of “These are the things I WILL be attracting into my future.” This isn’t just a wish list… It’s a manifestation list! Visualize each individual item on your list, and take a moment to meditate on them as well. Picture all of these things as if they were already in existence in your life. How do they make you feel? Hold on to that feeling as you move forward in your new moon ritual…

Turn Your Goals Into Actionable Steps

Now that you know what you want to bring into your life, it’s time to break these goals down into new habits that you can start working on! Each one of your goals can be worked into one, or even better, more of the following:

- A daily habit

- A weekly routine

- A monthly habit

Go through each of your goals and think of ways you can start to achieve them and attract them into your life. For example, if you want to attract more positivity into your life, your actionable steps could look something like this:

Daily: Think of ten things to be thankful for.

Weekly Routine: Every Tuesday, I’m going to go for a nature walk and take pictures of all the things that make me smile.

Monthly: Volunteer somewhere to help others in need, and bring positivity to other’s lives.

Not too hard, right? Once you have your new habits planned out, keep them close to you, and in a visible area in your home. The bathroom mirror or dresser is a great place, since you most likely see these places every day first thing in the morning. This way, you’re starting each day with a reminder to keep your goals and new habits in mind.

That’s it! These are just new moon ritual basics, and in no way a list of hard rules. Your new moon ritual can be as basic or involved as you like. As long as you are feeling happy and accomplished with the results, it’s a success! If you have any questions, or just need some support, I would love to help out!
