Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

Why Everyone Swears by Rose Water

Why Everyone Swears by Rose Water

Rose water sounds like something bougie and magical you would find in a fantasy land somewhere where rich elves dwell. However, it turns out to be a real thing with some pretty near-magic abilities! Rose water is made from rose petals that are distilled with steam. You can also make it even more concentrated using Rose essential oils. But again, you want to know your sources, anytime you’ve got the most concentrated plant material, you are also concentrating pesticide… no thanks. Organic or beyond organic is non negotiable if you ask me. When you concentrate plant matter down, you get a concentration of everything- including pesticide.

Benefits of Using Rose Water.jpg

It is actually a very simple process, and with access to organic roses, you can even make your own! One of the most amazing things about rose water, is that you can use it topically, AND you can drink it! Many ancient cultures have used it as a natural remedy for countless sicknesses and skin problems. Are you sold yet?

Keep reading to find out all the fantastic benefits of using rose water!

  1. It is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiseptic. This makes it an amazing healer for minor cuts, scrapes, acne, eye infections, and bladder infections. Drinking rose water daily, as well as putting it on your face about three times a day will produce results in as little as a week. Your skin will no longer be a good home for acne-causing bacteria; and your body will be detoxified and cleansed from the inside. The astringent qualities will also balance your face’s pH levels and naturally control oil production.

  2. It is anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is a huge problem for almost everyone. Rose water is a wonderful way to get rid of this problem for good! When you put it on your face, it will quiet down angry bumps and reduce redness from acne and irritation. Drinking it can also soothe sore throats, ulcers, diarrhea, and osteoarthritis. Used topically, it has fatty acids that act as a natural remedy for bug bites, eczema, scars, rashes, toothaches, rosacea, and sunburn as well.

  3. It is an all-natural mood booster. From anxiety and depression, to PMS, rose water has your back. Simply the aroma of rose water brings on feelings of relaxation and calmness. This has been proven by a study done on mice whose entire central nervous systems were relaxed by the scent of rose water. Drinking it also provides you with the flavonoids it contains to reduce monthly bloating.

  4. It is full of powerful antioxidants. The antioxidants found in rose water actually beef up the cells in your body. This makes them stronger and less prone to damage as well as wear and tear. This gives your whole body a huge boost on the cellular level. Rose water will help you fight the battles you can not even see!

  5. It is very good for your digestion. Many cultures actually drink rose water regularly. It is part of their daily life, and they have passed this knowledge down to their ancestors that are alive today. It improves digestion overall, helps with bile production, and with all the other properties mentioned above; it creates the perfect environment for proper digestion.

  6. It is anti-aging. With vitamins A and C, rose water actually stimulates collagen production! This reduces wrinkles, and gives your face that healthy, plumped glow. This is so great to use for anti-aging, since it is completely natural and not full of chemicals you can not even spell.

  7. It is an effective immunity booster. In addition to vitamins A and C, rose water also has vitamins D, E and B3. These are all incredibly powerful immune system boosters. Vitamin D greatly reduces your chances of developing infections, vitamin E works to improve your overall immune function, and vitamin B3 has been found to kill “super bugs” which have become more common in recent years.

I hope this has opened your eyes to the many incredible benefits of using rose water! A few quick things before you go:

  • When looking for the right rose water to use, be sure it also includes rosehip essential oil. This ensures you are getting the maximum benefits of all of the vitamins and fatty acids

  • Before using any rose water products, be sure that you are not allergic to any of the components.

  • Always consult your doctor before self-diagnosing or self-medicating.
