Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

Unchecked, stress can do a LOT of damage to both your physical and mental health. This is why it’s super important to practice healthy ways of coping with, and reducing stress… Below are my favorite five natural ways to manage stress, so you can life a fuller and happier life!

  1. Weighted BlanketsWeighted blankets actually have several surprising benefits! They not only can help you feel comforted and warm, but they can also combat insomnia and chronic pain. The heaviness of a weighted blanket contributes to the release of hormones that make us feel happy and calm, as well as putting therapeutic pressure on areas with chronic pain. So if you have general stress, or stress exacerbated by pain, a weighted blanket could be perfect for you! Read more about them HERE.

  2. Essential OilsThere are so many amazing essential oils that work wonders against stress and anxiety. No matter your smell preferences, there’s going to definitely be at least one essential oil that you will fall in love with! Here are a few of the best ones to use when you’re feeling stressed: - Basil (Holy and Sweet) - Bergamot - Chamomile - Clary Sage - Fennel - Frankincense - Geranium - Jasmine - Lavender - Lemon balm - Marjoram - Patchouli - Rose - Vetiver - Ylang Ylang

  3. Get In Touch With NatureThis can be as simple as a daily walk outside, or as involved as getting into gardening—it’s up to you! You can also go with the middle of the road option of getting some houseplants! There are many advantages to making nature a part of your life as much as possible.Being outside helps your body absorb vitamin D, it can calm your mind, and it also helps to ground you and reduce anxiety.

Gardening is a great way to give yourself something productive to do. It can also be used to attract good pollinators, and to help you become more self-sustaining!

House plants are useful for so many things, as well. Some of them are amazing for purifying the air, while others smell really good and help calm us down.

  1. Meditation And AffirmationsDaily affirmations coupled with guided meditation can really help greatly with managing stress. This is particularly good to get done first thing in the morning. It helps you set your day on a foundation of positivity and calmness. Guided meditations are perfect for anyone just starting out with meditating, and affirmations can be used any time you need a little mental reset/pick-me-up.

  2. Get MovingIt can be easy to isolate and stay in bed a lot when you’re feeling stressed or depressed. However, while it may seem like the last thing you want to do, moving around is actually super beneficial for you! It doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous—I actually enjoy walks and yoga as stress killers. Getting your body moving during stressful times is perfect for making your body produce endorphins, as well as helping your body detox.

Managing stress in natural ways is much more beneficial to your overall health and sense of well-being. These five we just talked about are the easiest to be able to do, but there are lots of ways you can learn to manage your stress in healthy, natural ways.
