Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

Zion National Park

Zion National Park

My husband and I are crazy about Zion National Park, and over the last several years we've been there countless times.

It's my very favorite National Park (although going to Yellowstone for the first time this year makes me think they might rival each other for that #1 spot.)

One of the best things about Zion is the weather! We've gone several times throughout the winter, and while there might be a dusting of snow, the weather is totally doable; and the biggest bonus is that there are no crowds.

We've definitely noticed over the years that more and more people are discovering Zion National Park. So this becomes a huge issue of inconvenient lines for the shuttle, and even huge, winding lines to go through the canyon, since they have huge, single lane tunnels.

We packed up our camper van and while we usually stay on the west side (we love the Zion River Resort on that side) this time we switched it up and stayed at the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort this time.

It’s on the east side of the park which allowed us to head to my favorite little farm to table homestead called the Co-op Cafe. They have a hydroponic greenhouse and petting zoo of sorts; and if you're on the east side of Zion, it's well worth a stop.

The Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort really has it all when it comes to great places to visit or stay. They have options for cabin rentals, camping and glamping, and even wagons if you want to stay a while! You can also book a jeep tour of Zion there, or guided hiking, horseback riding, ziplining, and yoga too! We love heading to the hot tub after a long day playing in the park.

However, for me, the very best part of the trip was our maiden voyage on our new electric bikes!

We've noticed on so many of our trips that we could see a lot more of the outdoors if we were riding bikes, but with the baby, the trailer, the setting up, and all our family outing things--Oh, it just became really unrealistic for us to bike all day and not pass out from exhaustion.

I cannot overemphasize how much we enjoyed these bikes in the park. We spent an entire day riding up and through parts of the canyon that we haven't had time to explore. We did it so easily with these electric bikes! Many of the roads that lead to the different hikes and poles and sightseeing locations are on roads that are exclusively used by the shuttles. This means we're only sharing the road with the occasional shuttle that comes every 15 -30 minutes.

There are TONS of trails of all kinds in Zion National Park! You can drive through some, walk others, and of course, use a regular or electric bike too! If you want to see the most for your time, I definitely could not get enough of the ride through the quieter trails.

The weather was absolutely perfect and we are so excited for our next trip south. Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions, or if you have your own favorite little getaway in Zion!
