Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

4 Natural Immune Boosting Herbs

These days, we come in contact with so many pathogens every single day. From money, doorknobs, banisters, packages, and even grocery store items… The opportunities to pick up a bug are endless. However, there are lots of natural immune boosters that can help keep you healthy and safe when used in tandem with good sanitary practices. Below are four of my favorites, so let’s get to it! :)

4 Natural Immune Boosters

  • Clove Cloves are full of antioxidants that can help fight disease and free radicals in the body, as well as having antibacterial properties. Cloves can not only boost your immune system; but they can also help treat colds, digestive issues, and oral infections. Clove is especially useful for colds, since it works as a natural expectorant that helps your body expel mucus that might end up being built up in your chest. Most over the counter medications simply mask symptoms—expectorants help minimize the sickness.

  • Eucalyptus Eucalyptus has three great benefits to the immune system: it’s antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory! All these things combined are a nightmare for any pathogens that may try it with your immune system. MRSA, strep, and tuberculosis strains have been found to be especially impacted by contact with eucalyptus… Another unique feature of this essential oil is the fact that it can actually trigger your immune cells to eat any germs they find. This is an immune response that neutralizes many different kinds of bacteria, and it’s also pretty cool!

  • Ginger Ginger has antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties that greatly boost the immune system. Not only does ginger work as an immune boosting supplement, it can also kill bacteria and infections on your skin. Ginger has even been found to be effective against parasites—dissolving them AND their eggs! It can also be used to combat mucus in a different way than cloves… Ginger can actually prevent the production of mucus, and the build up of congestion.

  • Rosemary Rosemary is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-fungal herb. It has also been found to be helpful against antibiotic-resistant bacteria by weakening their cell walls. These qualities make rosemary a heavy hitter you want on your herbal immunity team. It is also high in vitamins A and C, which are immune boosting vitamins all on their own!

As you probably know by now, I’m obsessed with my essential oils- did you know they have much higher concentration of the properties that boost your wellness than in the dry plant matter? For example, it would take 26 cups of peppermint tea to get as much as one drop of peppermint essential oil. WOW!

Snag a kit from me here, and Ill help you learn alot more about these powerful concentrates.

Always talk to your primary health care provider before making changes to your diet, or adding in any supplements to your diet. Everyone’s body is different, and some herbs may interact with medications; so always make sure you are taking the right steps and doing research before implementing natural medicine to help you. Once you know which herbs are right for you, you will be able to take advantage of all these benefits safely! Please let me know if you have any questions, or just want to have a talk about how I use these herbs for myself.
