Hey, I'm Lydia!

I like playing in the sun and dirt, growing things and taking care of plant babies. When I’m not doing that, I’m watching E! or the  RHWOanywhere and thinking about how to make french fries burn fat (I've never met a french fry I didn’t love). I earned my level 1 crunchy hippie mom badge birthing my little man Mitt unmedicated (ya know, how everyone around the world does...) But I guess the internet liked it cuz our little birth story went viral- go figure.  I'm on a mission to keep myself and my family well, naturally and love and honor our Earth. I'm married to Ben and we are a blending family in progress. I'm loving on my growing tribe of sisterhood from all around the world, join us and stay connected.

What Does Glamping Mean??

What Does Glamping Mean??

Let’s be honest, camping isn’t something everyone enjoys. Ive always loved camping myself, but I totally get why its a “no” for alot of people. There’s the setting up, fire building, sleeping on the ground, no electricity, etc. It’s just not everyone’s cup of tea!

We got a pull behind camper RV im 2019, and every since, its literally impossible to get me to sleep on the ground, on nothing but a sleeping pad. No, honey.

My Redwoods camping trip would be the only excepion: BLOG LINKED HERE

GLAMPING is a really happy medium, for those of us who are no longer willing to to trade in a sleepless, uncomphy sleep situation, for an outdoor adventure. Imagine enjoying the outdoors, and adventure of camping and not having to sacrifice many comforts! Let me introduce you to “Glamping.”

What Is Glamping?

Glamping is essentially fancy camping. You get the creature comforts of a simple hotel, with the beauty and adventure of being outdoors and in nature. It’s really the best of both worlds and adds a sense of familiarity and hominess whether or not you’re out of your element. The “official” definition of glamping is that you have immediate access to the outdoors instead of a lobby, and that you still have some amenities like a bed, hot water, electricity, etc. Glamping sites vary depending on location and level of “glam,” but it can definitely be worth the experience!

How Do I Know If Glamping Is Right For Me?

All it takes is a little bit of research and open-mindedness to find out whether you would want to try glamping or not. There are countless locations virtually anywhere you could want to visit, and they all have their own unique amenities and experiences that make them great! Take some time to decide where you want to take your next vacation, and then see what kind of glamping opportunities are in the area. You might be surprised at how amazing some glamping sites can be!

What Should I Do To Prepare For Glamping?

The first thing you should do is settle on a budget for your glamping trip. This will make it easier to narrow down your options, and find the perfect site. Since glamping involves a bit more than camping, but less than a full-service hotel, it will cost you a bit more than just a typical camping trip.

Once you know your budget, it’s time to make sure you bring what you need. Remember that glamping is still outside, so you’ll need things to be ready for whatever elements are there. For example, if you’re going to be somewhere cold, you’ll definitely need warm clothes, and maybe even some extra blankets.

Things To Keep In Mind

Keep in mind that glamping is a step up from regular camping, but you’re still going to be outside! This means you’ll still probably experience bad weather, nearby wildlife, strange sounds, etc. So be prepared for this, since glamping isn’t the same as just getting a hotel that’s close to nature--you’re IN nature!

I hope this little guide on what glamping means inspires you to give it a try for your next vacation! If you’ve already been glamping, let me know in the comments how your experience was! I’d love to hear your stories, and get some ideas for myself. ;)
